Hairpin Lace Crochet

So the crochet bug caught me and caught me hard. I haven't been doing the typical blankets though. I will leave those to my sister. My mom saw what I was doing with the granny square blanket and told me if I could do that I could do hairpin lace crocheting.

My mom does a lot of it and so we bought the hooks and she gave me a blanket to work on and her pattern books. It took me a while to find the right tension as I worked. The thread is a lot harder to work with since it is so thin but I picked it up quickly and she has since given me another blanket to work on for her since she doesn't have the time to get it done. One more thing I can do now!

Learning Something New

So I have been missing on my blog for some time now. My health took a turn at the beginning of the year so I haven't been able to craft for a while. I have been doing physical therapy and it has limited what I can do and how long I am able to do something. Since this year was all about using what I had on hand crafting kind of stopped for a while. Sad really!

Well a while back I saw some yarn in my craft closet and decided why not teach myself to crochet. My sister does it and I have watched her for years and I know the basics just from watching so I started playing around with the yarn and then my sister let me borrow one of her beginners books. I looked at the projects in the book and decided to do a granny square blanket. It took me about a month to get the blanket done but for my first project ever I'd say it turned out really well.
