Giddy Quilt

I got bored a little while ago with nothing to do (I mean nothing I wanted to do) so I went looking for an easy project. I found this blanket on the Moda website and thought that it looked easy enough.

I found a charm pack {Giddy by Sandy Gervais} that was on sale and snatched them up. I bought coordinating fabric for the edges and binding. I had the front panel done in a few hours and then I sent it off to be quilted.

{Front panel}When I got it back from the quilters I had already made the binding so that night I sat down and put the binding on. Making my own binding isn't perfect yet but someday I hope it will be.

{Final blanket}The quilter did a flower pattern all over the quilt that I absolutely just love. She also did the same pattern on this quilt that I made.

Scripture Cover

So my very first combination scriptures looked like this: Loved the tab closure but hated how big they were. So when I got married I bought a new set in the smallest size but the tab closure was too expensive for us so I just got the normal kind. I missed my tab closure. So I decided to make one only after 5 years, better late than never.

**I am still new to the picture taking thing especially if I don't know if what is in my head will come out the right way! So forgive the picture taking.

So I started out just eyeballing the length and width of the fabric to taste and then adding the seam allowance. I cut two strips.I then cut batting to go inside. Next I placed the fabric right side together and placed the batting on top. Then sewed all the way around leaving both ends open. While it was still open on both ends I hand sewed snaps on then sewed the end closed. After sewing all the way around it I sewed stripes onto it to hold the batting down and give it some texture. Then it was ready to be wrapped around the scriptures and enjoyed!Perfect for holding papers in it and a pen now without them falling out or ruining my scriptures

Bow Ties

My little nephew turned one a while ago and so for his birthday I made him some bow ties. I used this tutorial from Papersnitch. They were really easy. I made some modifications to them. I made the bow two inches smaller and adjusted the center by half an inch on the long side. I also adjusted the band to fit my nephew. It took about an hour per bow tie from start to finish. Not bad! Love the way they turned out!The brown bow tie has the original center and I later shrunk it to fit better on the others

The dark blue bow tie is actually decreased by 3 inches because that was all the fabric I had and I shrunk the knot down further as well.

Ruffle Skirt

I have been wanting to make a skirt for a very long time now. I have yards of fabric saved just for skirts. Well I started making some circle skirts the other day when Craftaholics Anonymous posted a ruffle skirt tutorial. I put down my circle skirts and made this ruffle one. It was so easy and I wore it the next day and got a ton of compliments on it.

I did make one change. She sewed the ruffle to the right side of skirt to wrong side of ruffles and sewed mine right side of skirt to right side of ruffles so it created a seam. Next time around I will make it longer too. The ruffles went to my knee when I sat down and I would prefer that the skirt part went to my knee and then the ruffles down from there. But I absolutely loved the tutorial she gave and my new skirt!I changed the color of my shirt; I wore it first with the blue but I also got a green shirt to match as well. What color do you like best?
