I happen to find some cute flannel in the clearance section of a local fabric store. I decided it was big enough to make a baby blanket out of it. So I found some fabric for the front that matched and away I went. 
I did not put any batting in it due to the fact that the recipient lives in a hot climate but I did stitch around the border on the front to tack everything together and keep it from moving. I also love the little flower in the corner to match the fabric on the back.
