Shamrock Wreath

I saw this post at the idea room for Valentine's Day and thought why not do one for St. Patrick's Day with three hearts and green felt. The only problem was how to create the stem, but that was quickly resolved when I realized I could just cut one out of a sheet of styrofoam. I bought a small sheet of styrofoam, 3 6" hearts, a yard of green felt, and straight pins (box of 200).
I hot glued the pieces together as shown below. (I am still trying to remember to take shots before I get to the end!)

From there I cut 2 1/4 inch circles. Then I started folding and pinning. (I used all 200 pins with none to spare)

Once I liked what I had, I cut some ribbon and pinned it to the back so that it would hang right.

Here is the finished product. I really like the way it turned out. Easy too!

So cute! Brilliant that you pieced together three heart forms and added a base. I might have to copy you, my friend has requested that I make her a felt shamrock. Thanks for sharing.

I love it! I clicked over here from Tatortots and Jello just to see where you found a shamrock wreath form, but now I see you're just a genius!

I love this! Where did you get the 6" hearts?

My husband is Irish so we always make a big deal of St. Patty's and this would be perfect for our collection!

I found the 6" hearts here in UT at Ben Franklin Crafts. I looked everywhere for them and had to wait for their shipment to arrive. I know you can find them at Hobby Lobby but they were sold out when I did it. You can also buy them online from Hobby Lobby.

Great job! I had been trying to come up with a way to make a shamrock but had not seen 6 inch hearts. Where did you find those??? I made a similar wreath for V-Day with a large heart. Love this! I am a new follower. Chris

I love it but you lost me at "cut out 200 circles". I wish I had that initiative!

I hope I have time to try this before the holiday comes. I was over at my daughter's house the other day and she had a dollar store St. Patrick's day sign hanging on her door, I cringed. I would love to make this as a replacement, OK I actually just convinced myself as I type, I HAVE to do this because I just pictured that sign in my head again and it wasn't pretty. Thanks for the tutorial, it is a beautiful piece of artwork for your door.

I just folded them into quarters and then put the pin through the point that it makes.

This is too smart! I love how you made your own shamrock shaped form! My husband is from Ireland which makes Paddy's Day a favorite around our house. Would love it if you have time to link this up on my Destination: Inspiration linky party at Teagan's Travels.
