Fabric Pumpkin
I found some of the soft minky fabric in orange. I love this fabric. It was in the scrap pile so the price was way cheap. I was trying to think of what to do with it and then I thought about all the fabric pumpkins I have seen everywhere so that is what I decided to make.
I sewed the ends together and did a gathering stitch around the top and bottom of the pumpkin. Filled it and made the stem out of scraps I had of the brown minky fabric. Embellished the pumpkin and put it up on the shelf where my son can't get to it! I love the lines in the fabric they are perfect for a pumpkin. I think I will make another one tomorrow.
Girl Diaper Cake
I have a friend giving birth to a girl and as a gift I decided to do another diaper cake. This time I was able to do a lot more accessories than the boy one. So included are the following items: 2 packages of size 1 diapers (rolled and placed in 3 layers, tutu (holding the top layer together), 2 books (boosting the top layer so you can see the layers under the tutu), 3 bracelets, 1 cloche and flower, 2 headbands, 2 hair clips, leggings, tights, Desitin, shampoo, lotion, binkies (cake topper), package of Gerber sleepers and a blanket.
This is only showing part of the items without the wrapping. The wrapping held in all the rest.
Here is the front all wrapped:
The back:
The blanket I made and placed at the bottom of the cake.

Projects Challenge
Excuse the lack of posting lately, I have been painting my house for the last few weeks and I am no where close to being finished. I have an accent wall to finish in my master and my sons room is only half way finished. I paint the majority of his room today. Hopefully the painting will be finished later this week and then the fun part begins...decorating!
Besides the painting I did an inventory a week ago of all the projects I had laying around the house that weren't finished. (I also counted a few that I know need to be done before the end of the year that I haven't bought the stuff for yet) I found that I had at least 15 projects just hanging out. I was floored that I had that many projects just waiting to be finished. I am sure there are more that I can't remember or find!
So here is my challenge to myself and you can join in if you want. I am going to finish 10 of those projects before the end of the year and really clean things out. These projects need to get finished and out of my craft clutter. Now I have a goal and someone else knows it! Then if I am good and I get them finished I can go out and get new projects and maybe start some of the projects I have stored in my favorites tab. What about you? How many projects do you have just laying around?

Get Set to Fish
My son has been talking non stop about fishing and he would bring me random toys saying that they were fish. So I decided I would make him some fish and a fishing pole. I just bought some felt squares (4 for $1 at Hobby Lobby) and used this fish pattern to cut them out and sew them.
I learned after making a few of them that it is best to make two copies of the fish pattern and reverse one so that your sides match.
I used a washer for the magnet to catch and some ric rac to attach it but you could also use ribbon. I just used what I had.
Here is the final fish.
I made the pole with a dowel and some yarn for the fishing line. I wrapped some of the extra felt around the bottom for the handle. For the magnet I used super strong round ones and they are able to hold 6 fish at a time.
I ended up making 12 fish and my son can't get enough of them.

Rag Quilt
I finally completed my first rag quilt. Yes I know that it is Valentine's fabric. My mom made fun of me because I have the makings for a Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas one but I started with the furthest away holiday, go figure right! I have had the materials to do it for some time now (Okay, a year or so) but never got around to cutting squares until now.
I purchased 8 packages of 42 precut squares that were 5" x 5" and then I purchased 5 yards of flannel and cut those to size. I also added about 20 or so solid 5" x 5" squares to make it the size I wanted. I could have gotten away with either 4 or 4 1/2 yards of flannel by the time I got them all cut out and assembled. I used flannel so that when you assemble the squares you don't have to quilt them and it frays really well. I did 12 squares by 15 squares and it is just smaller than a twin I figure. It is long enough to cover me completely and I am 5'8". I really like the way it turned out and I am excited to make my next one.
